What information do we process?
The information processed depends on how you use Vrouwveiliger. We distinguish between visiting the website, contacting us and sharing an experience through the public app.
PRIVACY STATEMENT
Vrouwveiliger processes as little personal data as possible. The public app does not ask respondents for their name, email address, phone number or home address. Other information is processed only when needed for our services and research.
The information processed depends on how you use Vrouwveiliger. We distinguish between visiting the website, contacting us and sharing an experience through the public app.
When you visit our website, technical server logs are recorded, such as access, error and security logs. These logs may contain technical information, including an IP address. They are used solely for technical management and security, retained for a maximum of three months, and are expressly not used for commercial purposes or automated profiling.
When you contact us, we process only the information you choose to provide, such as your name, organisation, email address, subject and message. The contact form is sent by email and is not stored in a separate website database. Your contact details are not sold, not used for commercial purposes and not added to automated mailing lists.
The public app asks only for an age category and gender, with the option to select "Prefer not to say." The selected location is recorded through the placed pin, together with the time the report is submitted. The respondent describes why the selected location is experienced as unsafe. No name, email address, telephone number or home address is requested. The selected location forms the geographical reference point of the report.
We use information only for the purposes for which it was collected.
The public app does not ask respondents for their name, email address, phone number or home address. Municipalities receive only anonymised research results covered by their commission. Analyses and reports are prepared so that individual respondents cannot be identified. Personal data from, for example, the contact form is not sold and is shared only when necessary for service delivery or when required by law.
The website and the Vrouwveiliger app are hosted in Dutch data centres. The hosting platform retains six daily, four weekly and three monthly backups for recovery purposes. We have a data processing agreement with our hosting provider and use appropriate technical and organisational safeguards.
We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or marketing. The website uses system fonts and does not load external fonts. For map display, the public app uses Leaflet with map tiles from OpenStreetMap. When the map is loaded, the browser connects directly to OpenStreetMap’s tile servers, which may process the usual technical request data, such as the IP address. Converting a placed location into a street or place name takes place through Vrouwveiliger’s own server. External geocoding services therefore do not directly receive the respondent’s IP address. We do not use Google Maps.
We retain information no longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law. Server logs are retained for no more than three months. Contact messages remain only in the relevant email environment for as long as needed to handle and follow up the contact. Research retention periods are determined for each study and documented in the relevant agreements.
Where personal data is involved, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or object to processing. Because experiences in the public app are shared without a name or contact details, we cannot link, retrieve or delete a submission on the basis of a respondent’s identity.
